Outside of the U.S.
St. Martin - Dutch and French
Le Moulin Fou! Le Moulin Fou located in Maho Plaza on the Dutch side of St. Martin offers diners a delectable assortment of exquisitely prepared French cuisine. Chef/owner Julien Bonnel's masterful creations have been one of the island's best kept secrets...possibly because the restaurant is hidden behind Cheri's Cafe, next to the Casino Royal. The pricing of the entrees is less than you would find for similar food in Grand Case. The portions are generous. The plate is a palette of inviting colors and contrasts which tantalize the taste buds. The wait staff is expertly trained, very accommodating yet warm and friendly. This local gem will sure to become a must-visit destination for dinners looking for well crafted food in a nice setting. Chef Bonnel is opening another restaurant next to Le Moulin Fou which will feature Asian cuisine. If Chef Bonnel follows his Le Moulin Fou! model, the dining experience at his new Asian restaurant is sure to be as glorious as dining at the Fou.! The only downside to their outdoor patio location is the loud musical show at Cherie's Cafe which starts around 8pm. Indoor dining is available but it is well worth arriving at the Fou at 6pm for a divine island dining experience. Highly recommended. (January 2008) www.moulinfou.com
Kissing Fish Bar and Grill @ the Summit Resort Hotel in Cupecoy (Dutch side) - A hidden treasure... Teri and Chloe, proprietors of the Kissing Fish are warm, friendly and hospitable. Happy hours are very popular. This place has absolutely the best view on the entire island. Once you visit their deck, every other view pales in comparison. Come have a drink before the sun sets...it's spectacular. Very casual dress. (January 2008)
Pineapple Pete's (Simpson Bay- Dutch side) Very nice varied with a combination of French, Canadian, Caribbean and American offerings. Prices are reasonable and the food is well prepared. The Coquille St. Jacques was the best sampled in decades. Marvelous. (November 2007)
Calmus Cafe (Grand Case - French side) - Sundays on the beach are wonderful. Enjoy the local sounds of great bands while enjoying well prepared cocktails. Sunsets are amazing.
L'Hibiscus Restaurant (Grand Case- French side) - Chef Franco and his lovely wife, Alessandra provide a warm welcome to their restaurant in Grand Case. Chef Franco creates a fine array of dishes which blend influences of French, Italian and Caribbean cuisine. Lovely restaurant atmosphere. (November 2006)
Highly recommended: Temptations and Rare (at the Atlantis Casino, Dutch side) - Executive Chef Dino Jagtiani - Let Chef Jagtiani know that you received the recommendation from us. Exquisite fine food, priced accordingly. (May 2006)
